- score and parts eresa Barlow wrote the Dectet, Op. 1 in 2020, initially as a lockdown project for students to record their parts independently. The piece has evolved since then with performances across the world.
- The opening Allegro is jolly and accessible, with the melody shared between the sections, offering different textures and giving an opportunity to work on balance and ensemble awareness.
- The Adagio starts with a very slow 6/8, feeling almost pulseless, and develops into a beautiful and reflective piece, offering masses of space to let the instruments show off their warm, sustained tone.
- In the short final Vivo, the ensemble sings out a noble tune, and works together at speed sharing scales and accompanying figures, to bring the work to an exciting and energetic conclusion.

- Als junger Komponist schrieb Glazunow zwei Ouvertüren (1882-83), welche Melodien aus Louis Bourgault-Ducoudrays Trente Mélodies populaires de Grèce et dOrient zitieren. Der bretonische Musikwissenschaftler, der ein Verfechter der Musik Rimsky-Korsakows war, hatte auf einer Reise durch Griechenland im Jahre 1874 Volksmusik gesammelt und sogar Orchestrierungen mehrerer Volksweisen in seinem Werk Le Carnaval dAthènes
- veröffentlicht, das 1921 bei den Concerts Colonne in Paris gespielt wurde. Anton Rubinstein brachte Glasunows Ouvertüre Nr. 1 am 22. Januar 1883 im fünften RMS-Konzert der Saison zur Uraufführung, und Balakirew leitete die erste Aufführung von Nr. 2 später im selben Jahr. Rimsky-Korsakow wiederholte die Ouvertüre Nr. 2 im dritten Konzert der Saison 1889 zusammen mit seiner eigenen Antar und seinem Klavierkonzert in cis-Moll. Auf dem zweiten Titelblatt der Ouvertüre Nr. 2 wird angegeben, dass die Musik auf drei griechischen Themen basiert.
